Our officers have met all the training requirements and have been commissioned by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board, and have been granted all the rights and privileges as conservators of the peace as outlined by state statute.Ìý

Recruitment Process

The СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøCollege Police Department offers testing services for the position of police officer through National Testing Network, Inc. To schedule a test, go toÌý, select Law Enforcement and sign up for the СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøCollege Department.ÌýPlease note: you must first submit an online application via Parkland's employment opportunitiesÌýwebsite.

What to expect at theÌýNational Testing Network website:

  • Completion of the application process.
  • Detailed information about the testing process.
  • Opportunity to take online practice tests atÌý. Ìý
  • Schedule your own convenient test time. Tests are offered multiple times a week, including Saturdays.
  • Take high quality job simulation tests in a standardized, fair testing environment.Ìý

СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøCollege participates in the NTN testing fee waiver program.Ìý For information on getting your testing fee waived, email Sergeant Somphon PenlandÌýat spenland@parkland.edu. There are no requirements for a waiver.

Upon completion of the entry level exam, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøCollege Police Department.ÌýCandidates who attain a passing score on the entry level exam will be placed on the department's eligibility list.

Salary & Benefits

The starting salary for a СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøCollege Police Officer is $50,960.44. Upon release of the Field Training program a probationary officer will be eligible to sign up for overtime and receive longevityÌýstep increases ofÌý$1,500 after completion of two (2) years,Ìý$2,000 after completion of four (4) years,Ìý$2,000 after completion of six (6) years. СÖíÊÓÆµ¹ÙÍøoffers a variety of benefits to Police Officers, includingÌýno monthly insurance premiums for single or family coverage, paid time off, andÌýtuition waivers for employees and dependents.
